Verging on a Meadow

This display epitomises our philosophy of ‘blending horticulture with nature’. Ornamental plants naturally suited to growing in damp grassland (as here) have been added to augment the many wildflowers that already existed here despite the suppressing effect of the former mowing regime. The oak seat, ‘A Tee Shape For Three Sleepers’, by local artist Paul Anderson (and courtesy of Key Funding) encourages people to stop and enjoy this revitalised wildlife habitat and visual delight. Originally just a spring meadow, this verge is now allowed to grow on after its June cut for extended summer benefit.
