This display of cornfield annuals was devised for a site bordered by fields and earmarked for our new primary school. Our ‘creative conservation’ solution was naturally temporary and cost effective. The seeds have usually been sown in early spring though it is hoped the display might become more self-sustaining once the soil seed bank has developed. Attempts may also be made to introduce more Mediterranean cornfield annuals like Nigella. We were grateful to the charity Landlife for their advice with this project.
