Chandlers Court Wetland |
|
Formerly saltmarsh prior to the arrival of the railway, this area is evolving into a freshwater version. Whilst a haven for wildlife it had been regarded by some as a wasteland. Here was an opportunity to ‘blend horticulture with nature’ and reverse this negative perception. Showy wetland natives such as Yellow Iris and Purple Loosestrife were planted on the public land between the stream and the road, along with similar exotic species (e.g. Butterfly Iris). Tree planting has been undertaken around the site by both Chandler’s Ct. Management Co. and ourselves. Thanks also to NDCCS.
