Juncus

Paul Anderson and Rose Gallagher were commissioned to install this display after an open competition for local artists and landscape gardeners. The project aimed to enhance this point of entry into the village and was funded as part of our successful Key Fund bid in 2001. The cluster of untreated, locally sourced oak uprights that make up ‘Juncus’ represents the rushes that are so typical of the area (Latin = Juncus). The sculpture is complimented by a surrounding planting of wetland wildflowers (the site is very wet!). You can see more of Paul’s work at Broomhill Sculpture Gardens near Barnstaple.
