Bloom

This piece of ‘art in the landscape’ welcomes visitors arriving on the Tarka Trail from the south. It was designed by local artist Geoff Stainthorp, and inspired by unfurling petals and sails. You can see more of Geoff’s work – two ‘shelters’ - on the Trail between Instow and Barnstaple. ‘Bloom’ was constructed in 2000 by apprentices at Appledore Shipyard and ferried across the estuary by the local Royal Marines. It will be allowed to rust and weather with the elements.
